It can be easy to become discouraged by the challenges  that come with being an entrepreneur, and forget that being a KINGDOM-driven entrepreneur is awesome!

If you are a Christian, your faith should give you a deeper calling and purpose in every aspect of your life. God does not compartmentalize our lives, with work/business over “here”, and ministry/Kingdom impact over “there”. Instead, as a faith-driven entrepreneur your life, values, gifts and God’s plan for you are wonderfully intertwined.

With that Kingdom perspective in mind, here are five reasons as to why being a Christian entrepreneur is truly awesome…

#1: Sense of Purpose

There is a great sense of fulfillment that comes from knowing that your purpose should and can naturally flow into every aspect of your life, including your business. Understanding that God wants to use you, through and in your business to transform this world for His glory, is exciting! And knowing that God has plans just for you and your life (Eph. 2:10), being a Christian entrepreneur also means doing something you truly believe in and are passionate about, with a greater overall eternal purpose. When this is the case, higher levels of job satisfaction are guaranteed. This deep sense of purpose can penetrate all areas of life and lead to a healthier personal and spiritual life and a more flourishing business. 

#2: Flexibility

As a business-owner, you have flexibility when it comes to your schedule. You can determine your working hours, how you want to spend your time, and the deadlines in which you complete certain tasks. 

As a faith-driven entrepreneur, you have the freedom to align with your broader business, spiritual and life goals in a way that is fulfilling and rewarding. When prioritized, an entrepreneur can often achieve more work-life balance, which is freeing and rewarding. 

Flexibility is perhaps the most attractive reason for becoming a Christian entrepreneur. You can more easily deal with unexpected events and needs, say “yes” to more of the things you love, and make decisions that prioritize your personal and spiritual well-being. 

#3: Autonomy

Being an entrepreneur means you are the primary decision-maker in all areas of your business and life, and as a Christian business owner, you can seek and apply God’s wisdom to your business and life in ways that you want.  And although Godly mentorship and sound advice is absolutely necessary for a successful faith-driven business, getting to build and implement your business in the ways that you want is empowering. Yes, being the lead decision maker for your business comes with added responsibility, but it also comes with the permission to dream big and follow God’s leading in exciting ways! Since you have control over what happens and how it happens, as a Christian entrepreneur you have the ability to exert your creativity and transform them into reality through God’s wisdom and plan. 

#4: Continual Growth

Although nothing can truly prepare you for the diverse challenges you’ll face as an entrepreneur, the personal, spiritual and professional growth that comes from facing those challenges are incredibly valuable. One of the biggest perks of being an entrepreneur is the well rounded experience you gain. 

Whether it is leadership lessons, managerial abilities, community and Kingdom impact, vision casting, industry knowledge, or financial management, as an entrepreuer you will learn something new everyday! These valuable lessons lead to immense growth and will allow you to become a more effective and successful industry leader, boss, friend, and individual.

When operating your own business, the opportunities are limitless! And one thing is for sure– with endless opportunities to pursue and grow, as a Christian entrepreneur you will never get bored.
